BACKGROUND

Two years ago, I got a golden retriever.
Raising a dog is a challenge itself, but finding someone I could genuinely trust to stay with him while I traveled turned out to be even harder.

As a dog owner, you are not simply looking for “a sitter.” You are looking for someone who loves animals, understands routines, communicates clearly, and can provide structure when needed. Friends and family can help, but they do not always have the availability or experience that gives you peace of mind.

While searching for a solution, I discovered an existing Canadian pet-sitting platform. I immediately loved the core concept: sitters stay in the pet owner’s home, allowing the animal to remain in a familiar environment while someone also takes care of the house and plants. It is a brilliant service model.
However, as I began using the product, I noticed something unexpected — despite the strong idea behind the business, the experience itself did not inspire confidence. The visual design felt outdated, navigation was unclear, and key information was difficult to find. Instead of feeling reassured, I found myself hesitating to trust the platform with my dog.

That hesitation became the starting point for this redesign

GOAL(S)

Design a pet-sitting experience that feels trustworthy within the first few seconds.
Rather than simply modernizing the interface, I focused on understanding why users hesitate to trust a pet-sitting platform and how design could reduce that anxiety.

DESIGN STRATEGY

Clearer Positioning

Refocused the homepage around pet owners with a single, clear value proposition, making the service easy to understand from the first screen.

Faster Sitter Discovery

Redesigned the user flow to let owners browse available sitters before completing forms, reducing friction and supporting quicker decision-making.

Redesigned Sitter Profiles

Restructured profiles to prioritize the information owners value most—experience, availability, reviews, trust indicators, and home-care capabilities.

Smarter Search

Expanded filtering by location, pet type, availability, experience, and special requirements to help users find suitable sitters faster.

Simplified Communication

Streamlined the contact flow with clear CTAs and a more accessible messaging experience, making it easier to connect with sitters.

Trust-First Experience

Refocused the homepage around pet owners with a single, clear value proposition, making the service easy to understand from the first screen.

OUTCOMES

What started as a personal frustration became an opportunity to redesign a service where trust is the product.
By clarifying the value proposition, reducing friction, and elevating credibility through both UX and visual design, the platform becomes easier to use — and more importantly, easier to trust.
